The Farmingville Hills Chamber of Commerce proudly participated in the Annual Workforce Event at Sachem East High School, continuing a tradition of connecting local businesses with future leaders. For several years, the Chamber has been a dedicated attendee at this event, which bridges the gap between the student community and the professional world.
During the event, Chamber representatives engaged with students from grades 9 through 12, sharing resources and opportunities offered by the volunteer-run, nonprofit organization. With a mission to support local business and bolster community development, the Chamber showcased a variety of programs designed specifically with students in mind.
“This is a valuable event where we can share information on the Chamber’s annual scholarship, community service opportunities, and our internship liaison program,” said Michael Wentz, President of the Farmingville Hills Chamber of Commerce.
The internship liaison program plays a vital role in connecting high school and college students with Chamber business members for hands-on, real-world experience. Additionally, with 10+ events scheduled in 2025, students have multiple chances to volunteer or earn community service credits by participating in community-building initiatives.
The Annual Workforce Event is more than just a career fair—it’s a full-building collaboration that offers insight into volunteerism, college and trade school paths, and entry-level job opportunities. Students meet professionals across a range of industries, gaining valuable exposure and guidance for their futures.
“The Workforce Event is a building-wide collaboration. It incorporates volunteerism, community service, college/trade school information, as well as organizations offering entry-level jobs. This initiative includes all students and features a conglomerate of area business professionals representing their profession,” said Mr. Ward, Business Teacher at Sachem East High School.
The Chamber looks forward to attending this impactful event year after year.
“Each year, we meet enthusiastic students who want to learn more about the workforce,” Wentz added. “We look forward to attending next year’s event.”
